This region is rich in the culture of Argentina. The park is known for its extreme beauty. It was created in 1943 and is Argentina's oldest park. Lago Nahuel Huapi is the peak attraction. The park extends over 2 million acres along the eastern side of the Andes near Chile. The deep forests are full of ciohue and cypress and lenga trees. With its many aqua geen shallow bays, lagoons and misty inlest, mountains rise straight out of the water to amazing heights. There are tons of water sports and hiking activities.

The most popular excursion is to Isla Victoria which is the largest in the lake.
